Elizabeth Rankin chose Frostburg State because she was looking for an asynchronous, affordable program to which she was able to commute. She sought a program where she could experience the interactions with other students but complete the bulk of her work online.
For nursing, clinical hours in person are critical. Frostburg supports students by finding preceptors for these clinical hours, which, according to Elizabeth, can be very challenging. Also, the program includes three-day laboratories on campus where students receive hands-on experience with nursing skills. “We have time with faculty to ask questions and learn in person from other students."
Time spent in the program has demonstrated incredible support and accessibility from the faculty. Elizabeth was especially impressed by Dr. Buterbaugh stating, “In addition to promptly answering e-mails, she has personally called me when I needed assistance. The faculty genuinely wants students to succeed, and they go out of their way to help every student. The support and community at FSU are the best!”
